Sponsorship Policy
Last reviewed:
TaxKiln Canada is free to use. Our operating costs are covered by sponsorship — and we're transparent about exactly how that works. Sponsors appear in clearly labelled placements on relevant pages; they do not influence editorial content, calculator results, or guide recommendations.
How sponsorship works on TaxKiln Canada
Sponsors appear in clearly labelled SponsorSlot positions on relevant pages. Every sponsored placement is marked "Sponsored" — no native advertising disguised as editorial, no advertorial blurred into guide content, no paid mentions inside body copy. Sponsors do not influence editorial content, calculator results, or guide recommendations. The editorial team writes guides from primary sources (Income Tax Act, Excise Tax Act, CRA publications) without reference to which businesses sponsor adjacent slots. A sponsor cannot pay to appear inside a guide; a sponsor cannot pay for favourable treatment in a comparison; a sponsor cannot pay to suppress unfavourable coverage of their industry. We reject sponsors whose business model relies on pay-to-place credibility, pay-for-visibility ranking, or paid endorsement badges. These models structurally degrade the trust signals readers depend on, and Kiln Guides exists in part to counter-position against them.
Sponsor categories relevant to Canadian readers
Categories we consider for sponsorship include: accounting software, CPA firms, business insurance, bookkeeping services, payroll providers, business banking, incorporation services, commercial vehicle leasing, trade tool suppliers, and health benefits providers. All sponsors must operate lawfully in Canada and maintain any required regulatory registration in good standing.
Current status
TaxKiln Canada currently has no sponsors. When we do, they will appear here with full disclosure — name of the sponsor, the cluster or page set they sponsor, and the start date of the relationship.
Our anti-funnel commitments
Sponsorship does not change the privacy posture or the editorial position. The same commitments apply on every page of TaxKiln Canada: - We will never gate content behind an email capture. - We will never run a newsletter signup popup. - We will never sell your data. - We will never run display advertising. Sponsors pay for clearly labelled placement. They do not receive reader data, behavioural profiles, or anything else that would compromise reader privacy.
How to flag concerns
If you spot something on TaxKiln Canada that appears to violate the editorial-vs-sponsorship boundary — an apparent sponsored mention not clearly labelled, a recommendation that appears commercially influenced — please email hello@kilnguides.co.uk. We will investigate and respond. Confirmed violations result in immediate correction and a transparent note on the affected page.
The sponsorship policy is the visible structural commitment behind the editorial position. If we ever crossed the line described on this page, the trust we have built collapses. The boundaries are non-negotiable.
